Successful flooring starts with the substrate. Our preparation and restoration work includes evaluating existing concrete, mechanically preparing surfaces, and removing unsuitable coatings to establish a foundation for the selected flooring system.
Suitable environments
- Tenant improvements and remodels
- Facilities replacing failed coatings
- New slabs before coating or polishing
- Garages with peeling paint or sealer
Needs it can address
- Removing failed epoxy, paint, mastic, or sealer
- Repairing cracks, spalls, and joints
- Creating the surface profile a coating requires
- Restoring a worn slab before a new finish
Appearance & finish
Preparation is usually a step toward another system rather than a finished look. Where a bare concrete finish is the goal, we discuss sealing or polishing options after the surface has been restored.
Substrate & project considerations
We assess what is on the slab, how well it is bonded, and the condition beneath. Mechanical preparation such as diamond grinding or shot blasting is chosen based on the coating to be removed and the system to follow.
How we approach it
- 01
Assess
We identify existing coatings, damage, and the target system's requirements.
- 02
Remove and profile
Coatings are removed and the surface is mechanically profiled.
- 03
Repair
Cracks, joints, and damaged areas are repaired so the slab is ready.
Questions
Why not just coat over the old floor?
A new system is only as good as the surface beneath it. Poorly bonded coatings or contamination can cause the new floor to fail.
Is preparation dusty?
We use equipment with dust collection and plan the work around your site's requirements.
